I've made a few small changes to our guest bathroom. I really love this bathroom, but it needed some tweaking! When we moved in we fixed up all the
bathroom mirrors (found here), and for this bathroom we took down the builder grade mirror and replaced it with a brown/gold mirror. Its a nice mirror, but it really darkened the feel of the bathroom.
So the first thing I did was paint the mirror! And what a difference it makes!
It is so fresh and bright now!
I also hung an antique window above the towel rack:
and since I have seen so many fun seashell garlands lately I thought I'd give one a try!
I'm not even sure how I did it...I just experimented! I took some old netting and cut it in a long, thin strip. Then I just took some twine and tied the large pieces onto the net. The small pieces were tricky, so I used thin wire to attach them:
I tied blue burlap on the ends to cover up where it attaches to the wall:
Not too bad, right? I think it's pretty cute!
So here's the bathroom now with just those small changes:

Oh I love it, what a pretty bathroom. You are so right, painting the mirror really did make it feel so much brighter and I love the window and seashell garland. How fun is that. ReplyDeleteIt looks great! That small change to the mirror really does lighten up the entire space! I still have a ton of work to do on our bathrooms and it is just one of those projects I keep putting off. Hopefully they turn out as great as this!
ReplyDeleteThanks Amber! Well I don't blame you...bathrooms are not quite as fun to work on!!
DeleteThey were small changes but they really made a big difference. It is amazing how much brighter the bathroom is after you painted the mirror...and it's a prettier mirror now too! The frame and shell garland are also nice additions! Thanks for sharing your makeover at the Shady Porch! Blessings, D
ReplyDeleteThank you!! I know, I should have done it sooner!!!
DeleteWhere did you get your window? I've been looking for one for quite a while now!
ReplyDeleteHey Andrea! How are you and your cute boys?! I get my windows from a guy in central phoenix. He has a website called Porter Barnwood. He has a yard that he opens up to the public a few hours a week. He gets shipments in from old demolished barns and houses back east. And his prices are reasonable! He is great!
DeleteLove this!
