Thrifty Thursday: $12 Pallet Clock

Happy Thursday!
Today I'm going to show you how I made this fabulous pallet clock for $12!

At Goodwill this week I found this Howard Miller iron clock for $12.  Actually it was a little less because I used my 20% off coupon!! Whoot!
There was nothing wrong with it, it just needed a new battery...and a makeover!
So I made a board out of pallet wood to the size I wanted
Then I drilled a big hole in the center so the clock mechanism is accessible.  I didn't want to attach the clock to pallet wood and not be able to change the battery!
I painted the board a light coat of paint (Valspar's Shiitake), then sanded it down
After removing the clock hands, I painted the clock white, and sanded it too
I attached the clock face with long screws, making sure the middle hole lined up with the clock mechanism.
Then I took an ink pad and rubbed it over the wood and the clock face, to give it a more rustic look.
I also rubbed down the clock hands before reattaching them.

And that's it!  A nice, big clock for only $12!!!
